Desk top box
This is a tutorial on how to make a cute little box that is perfect for your desk top. I use it to store notepads in. I always have a notepad handy for jotting down tips and ideas. I plan on having one box for each topic, one for photography tips, one for sewing tips and so on.
You find the printable here
I made this out of Bazzill cardstock and it holds up very well. I filled it with 2 notepads and it holds.
Okay, lets go!
Start by printing the template, then roughly cut out the shape of it. I trimmed it to fit exactly on the corner of the cardstock to save paper. (Look at the arrows) Then apply some repositionable adhesive to it and place it on the cardstock. Cut out along all the outer edges. ( I have done a few changes to the printable so it will be easier to understand) I use scissors for cutting but an exacto knife will work as well.
Go ahead and score all the lines that says “score” (yes thats the way to go *wink*) Don’t remove the template until you are finished cutting and scoring.
The cutting and scoring is done, and I’ve removed the template, you can save that for later if you like.
Everything is nicely folded and I rounded the corners with a small corner rounder punch. If you use a big corner rounder, you need to trim the flaps a bit. This is the time to do some stamping and decorating. I don’t, like it clean.
Put some strong adhesive of your choice on the flaps and glue the box together. I use some white clear dry type of craft glue, but sticky strip or scor-tape works as well.
This is how it looks when it’s done. Cute! We have installed a big notice board that covers the wall over our desk. That means I can have 50 of this boxes if I want!
This is the way I attached the box, I even found matching thumbtacks in my stash!
